Location: West Jordan Picklr

Time: Wednesdays 5:45 pm-8pm

Start Date: Wednesday July 23rd

Duration: 6 weeks, 07/23-08/27

League Ambassador: Amy Morrison

LEAGUE FORMAT

MLP

This league is MLP format except it is coed and not mixed. ChatGPT will randomly assign each player a card. There will be 4 teams: Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, or Spades. Each team will have 1 female and 3 male players. One playe will be designated the team captain.

SCORING

Each team plays 2 matches each week. A match consists of 4 doubles games. Females will be paired with a male partner against a mixed doubles team. Each game is traditional scoring to 11, win by 2, hard stop at 13. Teams switch sides of the court at 6.

Each team is allowed one timeout a game.

A team is awarded 1 point for each game they win.

DREAMBREAKERS

In the event of a tie (both teams win 2 games) team captains designate a lineup of four players, who then rotate in for four points each using rally scoring until one team reaches 21 (win by two hard stop at 25).

MATCH FORMAT

Each team will have one female who will be on the #2 spot on the roster. This ensures that her matches are always mixed doubles matches. Each match will have 4 games: 2 mixed doubles games and 2 Men’s Doubles Games. Players will rotate partners according to their roster slots and the preformatted scorecard. Each player with play with every person on their team at least once in the first 3 games. The final game partner match up is not preformatted. The female on the team can chose which male they want to partner with. They will play against the other’s teams mixed partner duo.

COIN TOSS

The captain of each team will do a coin toss prior to starting the match. The coin toss will be guessing if your opponent is holding up a 1 or 2 behind their paddle. Update the scorecard with the winner of the coin toss.  The coin toss determines:

  • Serve/Receive:
    • The team that wins the coin toss can choose to either serve first or receive first.
  • Side of Court:
    • The team winning the toss also decides which side of the court they will play on for the first game.
  • React to Lineups:
    • In the DreamBreaker, the team winning the coin toss gets to see the other team’s lineup first and then choose their own lineup in response.  The loser of the coin toss will add their lineup to the scorecard first then the other captain will add their lineup.

KINGS COURT FORMAT IF TIME ALLOWS

If time allows we will finish with some rounds of Kings Court.
Starting positions for Kings Court are based on player rank for that day’s MLP games. The ranking is determined 1st by games won and second by points won.

TRADES

Starting week 2 captains can make trades.

TRADE START TIME: Trading begins the day the teams are assigned

TRADE END TIME: Midnight the Sunday prior to the event.

Both captains involved in a trade must text the league ambassador their updated rosters once a trade is executed.

TRADE ALLOWANCES: 3 players on a team that have played together in a prior week of the current league

In this scenario the team captain can negotiate trades with other team captains. However other team captains are not obligated to trade players. Trading has to maintain the team roster as 3 males and 1 female.

Roster and Sub List

The league roster is posted online. You can find it on our score card spreadsheet. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the tab labeled “Rosters & Subs.” On this page you will find the weekly rosters arranged by columns and at the bottom of the page you will find a list of subs. Players do not have to pick a sub from the list but subs must have a level of play that is at a minimum of a 4.5 level. The player replacing you can be either gender, but needs to either have a DUPR equal to or over 4.65 or must be on the sublist. If you want to add a player to the sublist whose DUPR is lower than 4.65, coordinate this with the league ambassador.

SUB DUE DATE: Subs are due by week 2 of the season. If a last minute sub is needed you must allow time for trades so your sub needs to be assigned by the Sunday prior.

By week 2, each player must add their name to each weekly roster. If a player is unable to play on a certain week they must secure a sub and write the sub’s name in place of their name on the weekly roster. The Sundayt prior to the event text your captain, the league ambassador, and the Picklr the name of your sub to ensure they have replaced you on the roster and scorecards.

LAST MINUTE SUBS DUE DATE: The Sunday prior to the event.

Last minute subs need to be secured by the Sunday prior to the league to allow time for trades. Text your captain, the league ambassador, and the Picklr the name of your sub as soon as possible.

Captains need to reach out to each player on their roster the Sunday prior to the event to confirm they are playing and to update their roster with subs.

EMERGENCY SUBS:

If you have an emergency and require a sub after the Sunday prior to the league. Text your captain, the league ambassador, and the Picklr the name of your sub as soon as possible.
