Virtual Psychological Testing Appointment

Your virtual psychological testing appointment is scheduled 5-7 days prior to your medical appointment. To complete your psychological testing you login to your patient portal  and click on the “check in” tab.

Psychological testing is an essential tool that allows us to track your symptoms over time and measure your response to various treatments. By providing a structured way to assess changes in your condition, these tests help us understand the effectiveness of the interventions you are receiving.

The insights gained from psychological testing enable us to tailor your treatment plan more precisely, ensuring that we are addressing your unique needs and optimizing your path to recovery. This ongoing assessment is crucial for making informed decisions about any necessary adjustments to your care. Click here to learn more about psychological testing.

Online Follow Up Appointments

Your follow up appointments with your psychiatric PA typically last between 15-30 minutes. Here’s what to expect:

Online Medication Management Appointments- 15 minutes

During your evaluation and management medical appointment your clinician will assesses and manage your psychiatric disorder and medical interventions. This typically entails:

Evaluating Medication Effectiveness:

Together you and your clinician evaluate how effectively the prescribed medication is managing symptoms. Your clinician will use your pre appointment psychological testing results as an objective measure of long term medication effect and to track changes when medication is changed. Amy will also dive deeper and spend the time to help you identify the root cause of ongoing symptoms. Determing the root cause provides direction on treatment interventions that will best fit your unique needs.

Modifying Medications:

Depending on the patient’s response, the PA may alter the dosage or switch medications to enhance treatment effectiveness and reduce side effects.

Managing Side Effects:

Patients are monitored for any side effects they might encounter. The clinician will offer strategies to address these side effects or modify the medication regimen if needed.

Addressing Patient Concerns:

Patients have the opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions they may have regarding their medication, including interactions with other medications or substances.

Ensuring Compliance:

The appointments provide an opportunity to discuss adherence to the medication regimen and address any barriers to taking medications as prescribed.

Online Medication Management Appointments with Brief Psychotherapy- 16 minutes or more

In your evaluation and management medical appointment, your clinician may determine more than 15 minutes is needed to evaluate and address your psychiatric disorder with a focus on psychological interventions. This generally involves:

Enhancing Your Medication with Therapy:

As part of your treatment plan, your clinician may suggest specific psychological therapies. Combining therapy with medication offers a more holistic approach and may reduce the need for medication to manage your disorder. While medication helps manage symptoms, therapy provides coping strategies, enhances emotional regulation, and tackles underlying issues. This combination often results in more sustainable long-term outcomes.

Evaluating Progress of Psychological Interventions:

During your medical follow-up appointment, your PA will evaluate the effectiveness of your psychological therapies. This evaluation ensures that the psychological strategies are effectively supporting your treatment goals. It also allows for any necessary adjustments to your care plan.

Evaluating Overall Treatment Progress:

These appointments also involve evaluating the patient’s overall progress with multiple interventions. Using the goals of their broader treatment plan, your clinician and you will determine your progress with medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes.

Coordinating Care

Medication management appointments can also involve coordinating with other healthcare providers. Typically your clinician will schedule a check in after referring you to a therapist. The check in will help establish if you feel your working relationship with a therapist is therapeutic. Other coordination of care may include your providing updates on disorders managed by your primary care clinician or other specialists. At Morrison Clinic our goal is to ensure a comprehensive approach to your mental health care.

We hope that by collaborating with your team of providers, you will receive the exceptional care that you deserve.  Please make sure that we have a current release of information form on file for your medical provider and for your therapist.
